Korea Therapy Yoga Association (KTYA) – Singing Bowl Healing Meditation Institute (SBHMI) Hosts Educator Training Summit on November 30 in Daejeon
Director Hyun-Joo Kim: ¡°Sound and vibration are scientific pathways to holistic healing.¡±
The Singing Bowl Healing Meditation Institute (SBHMI), a specialized division of the Korea Therapy Yoga Association (KTYA)—the largest yoga organization in Korea—will hold an intensive Educator Training Summit for Level-2 Singing Bowl Meditation Instructors on November 30 (Sun), 10:00–18:00, at the KTYA Daejeon Training Center (5F, 40-4 Eunhaeng-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon). The training will be led by Director Hyun-Joo Kim, founder of Hyeonju Yoga & Meditation in Masan.
This summit brings together directors from 39 certified Singing Bowl Training Centers nationwide, focusing on refining the standard Level-2 curriculum, sharing clinical and practice-based findings, and discussing educational and research objectives for 2026. The program emphasizes positioning singing bowls not merely as meditative tools but as evidence-based therapeutic modalities influencing emotional regulation, autonomic balance, and energetic coherence.
SBHMI oversees Korea¡¯s official Singing Bowl Meditation Yoga Instructor Certification (Registration No. 2019-002404), offering Basic, Level 2, and Level 1 programs. All Basic Courses open monthly across the national network. Members of KTYA¡¯s YO&P Membership receive the Basic Course completely free and gain unlimited access to 70+ professional training modules, strengthening long-term instructor competency.
The institute actively collaborates with the International Association of Integrative Therapy (IAIT) to support academic research, peer-reviewed publications, and annual conference presentations. Research outcomes are published in dedicated monographs and specialized texts, while related columns appear regularly in the monthly journal Yoga & Pilates Insight, co-published with MPA Pilates.
Director Hyun-Joo Kim is a leading integrative meditation educator with over 20 years of field experience. Through her Masan-based center overlooking the ocean, she has developed a comprehensive platform combining classical yoga, breathwork, meditation, and therapeutic sound practices. She is the author of ¡°Singing Bowl Meditation for Deep Sleep¡± (ISBN 9791194810063) and co-author of ¡°Emotional Healing Through Sound and Vibration¡± (ISBN 9791194810599). Her research on singing bowls, chakras, and emotional states has been published in the Journal of Neuro-Somatic Integrative Therapy, establishing her as a key academic contributor in the field.
¡°Singing bowls speak the language of the mind through sound, and the language of the body through vibration,¡± Kim explains. ¡°This summit ensures that all training centers develop instructors with unified standards, scientific grounding, and a shared philosophy of holistic sound-based healing.¡±
