Singing Bowl Healing Meditation Institute Holds Successful General Assembly – Advancing Modern Meditation and Evidence-Based Singing Bowl Therapy for 2026
The Singing Bowl Healing Meditation Institute (SBHMI), an affiliated institute of the Korea Therapy Yoga Association (KTYA), held its annual general assembly on November 23 at the KTYA Daejeon Training Center (5F, 40-4 Eunhaeng-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon). The meeting brought together training center directors from across the country to review the year¡¯s activities and discuss the future direction of singing bowl meditation and therapy.
Director Hyun-Joo Kim (Head of Hyeonju Yoga & Meditation in Masan) presented the institute¡¯s core vision for 2026, outlining four key priorities:
* collaboration with the Korea Yoga Meditation Association (KYMA) to promote and expand modern meditation, * clinical and academic research on condition-specific singing bowl therapy and related paper presentations, * publication of professional texts to strengthen evidence-based singing bowl therapy, and * expansion of Singing Bowl Therapy Conferences.
¡°Singing bowl meditation must move beyond simple relaxation content and evolve into an integrated healing modality that can be applied to specific conditions and states on a solid scientific basis,¡± Kim emphasized.
As an official KTYA institute, SBHMI serves as a central hub for the Singing Bowl Meditation Yoga Instructor certification program and a nationwide training network. It integrates singing bowl meditation, yoga, and modern meditation into a unified research and education system. In partnership with the International Association of Integrative Therapy (IAIT), the institute has continuously enhanced the academic standing of singing bowl therapy through conferences, paper collections, and specialized publications.
The assembly also confirmed a new leadership team to guide the institute¡¯s operations.
* Vice Presidents: Sun-Hyun Lee (Seoul–Capital Region), Seo-Hyun Lee (Central & Gangwon Region) * Chair of Exam Committee for the Singing Bowl Yoga Meditation Instructor program: Hyo-Jin Jung (Jeonghyojin Mind & Healing Yoga, Sejong) * Chair of Education Committee: Mi-Jeong Lee (Daaom MediWall Pilates, Jeongseon) * Chair of Academic Committee: Hong-Sook Jung (Dasa Yoga & Pilates, Daegu)
In addition:
* Chair of Training Committee: Shin-Jung Kang (Daom Pilates Yoga, Hyundai Department Store, Ulsan) * Chair of Strategy Committee: Mi-Young Kim (Daom MediWall Yoga Pilates, Sangju) * Chair of External Relations Committee: Yang-Hee Kim (Kim Yang-Hee Ashtanga Yoga, Busan) * Chair of Brand Committee: Yoon-Seok Kim (RASA Yoga, Dongnae)
With this new leadership structure in place, the Singing Bowl Healing Meditation Institute plans to accelerate the promotion of modern singing bowl meditation, the standardization of condition-specific singing bowl therapy, and the creation of a healing ecosystem in which research, publication, and education are seamlessly interconnected.
