Meditation Beyond Feeling: Practicing with Evidence
Recently, meditation has become almost a trend.
I have practiced meditation for years, but I often found myself wondering what exactly was changing inside my body and mind. In early 2026, the Korea Yoga Meditation Association (KYMA), affiliated with the Korea Therapy Yoga Association (KTYA), is introducing an approach that directly addresses this question.
KYMA will operate both the ¡°100-Day Night Yoga Meditation¡± program and the ¡°Yoga Meditation Trainer 200 (Level 3) and 300 (Level 2) Certification Courses.¡± What makes this project unique is its focus on measurable meditation rather than intuition alone.
Measuring Change Through Brainwave Data
As part of the 100-Day Night Yoga Meditation, KYMA will recruit participants eligible for EEG brainwave measurement. Changes will be analyzed by comparing data before and after the practice period. In the Sejong area, measurements will be conducted at Jeong Hyojin Mind & Healing Yoga, an affiliated KYMA training center.
The first round of measurement and analysis reports will be carried out from February 9 to February 20. After the 100-day practice concludes, the same participants will undergo a second measurement to compare pre- and post-practice data. A certified Brain Therapy Instructor will conduct the analysis and provide individual reports interpreting patterns of focus, relaxation, and recovery, which will then be linked to personal consultation and practice guidance.
From Subjective Experience to Reproducible Education
According to KYMA President Ham Kyung-in, meditation is deeply subjective, but education must be reproducible. Brainwave comparison before and after practice becomes a concrete reference that can be translated into class design and teaching language. The association emphasizes that the 100-day structure allows practitioners to observe cumulative results rather than short-term experiences.
On-Site Leadership by Director Jeong Hyojin
The project is led on site by Director Jeong Hyojin of Jeong Hyojin Mind & Healing Yoga in Sejong. She serves as Chair of the Mind Healing Research Committee at IAIT, Head of the KTYA Sejong Training Center, President of the Fascial Flow Yoga Academy, and Examiner for the Singing Bowl Healing Meditation Research Institute.
She is also an IAIT Board Member, Brain Therapy Instructor, IAIT 100 Therapist, RYTK300+ Yoga Instructor Examiner, and Regional Chair of K-WIA Monthly Yoga. In addition, her background as a wellness journalist and editor reflects her ability to document and systematize changes observed in the field. She is known as a scholarly presenter who integrates writing, research, and lectures, and has authored several books and academic publications on yoga therapy and fascia-based healing.
The 100-Day Model: Practice, Record, Reflect
KYMA¡¯s 100-day model is built on a clear cycle: practice, record, and reflect. Participants practice for 30 minutes at the same time each night to stabilize the nervous system rhythm. Changes are optionally recorded in a practice journal and later translated back into teaching methods and class structure.
The program runs with rotating specialist leaders throughout the week: breathing meditation on Monday, meditation training on Tuesday, singing bowl meditation on Wednesday, aroma meditation on Thursday, and recovery meditation on Friday. This structure is designed to reinforce strengths while balancing areas of weakness.
Verified Outcomes from the First Program
Feedback from the 2025 pilot program was highly positive. Participants reported reduced pre-sleep over-arousal, deeper breathing, improved focus, and a clearer bodily sense of meditation rather than abstract emotion. Instructor participants noted greater stability in class flow and more structured consultation language when working with members.
2026 Schedule and Participation Details
The Yoga Meditation Trainer 200 and 300 certification courses will open on February 21, 2026, at Jeong Hyojin Mind & Healing Yoga. Participation in the 100-Day Night Yoga Meditation, beginning February 23, is mandatory for certification applicants.
The meditation program runs daily from February 23 to June 2, from 10:30 PM to 11:00 PM. Enrollment is limited to 200 participants, and participation is free of charge.
A New Standard for Yoga Meditation Education
KYMA emphasizes that meditation may begin with feeling, but education must be completed with evidence. The 100-Day Night Yoga Meditation represents a meaningful step toward establishing a new standard for yoga meditation instructors by integrating measurable data with consistent practice.
